The Bank Negara Scholarship is open to young Malaysians who want to pursue higher education in Malaysia. The students who get BNM Scholarship will have access to the best learning experience at top universities per BNM’s list of approved universities to study Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Data Science, Law and Computer Science.
The BNM Scholarship offers programmes only to Malaysian citizens. Each year, a different number of scholarships is offered based on the standard of applications submitted and the eligibility of the applicants for the available slots.
Available Fields
The academic disciplines for Bank Negara Scholarship 2025 must be relevant to the Bank’s primary business and operations: Mathematics, Statistics, Law, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Data Science, and Computer Science.

Bank Negara Malaysia Scholarship Programme
There are two types of scholarship programmes offered by BNM;
- Kijang Scholarship 2024
- Undergraduate Scholarship 2024
Bank Negara – the Kijang Scholarship
The Bank Negara Kijang Scholarship is open for all eligible individuals who want to pursue pre-university programmes at BNM’s approved pre-university colleges. The scholarship will cover tuition fees, subsistence allowance and related scholarship allowances.
To avail of Bank Negara the Kijang Scholarship to pursue an undergraduate programme, applicants must meet these requirements:
- The age of applicants will not exceed 19 years at the time of application.
- Must demonstrate an excellent examination result (For SPM examinations, a minimum of 8As (A and A+ only) is obtained).
- Demonstrate outstanding performance in extra-curricular activities.
- Strong leadership qualities, and proven teamwork capabilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
Scholars must fulfil their job bond with BNM after completing their undergraduate degrees (i.e., one year of study to two years of service).
For further assessments only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
Bank Negara Malaysia Scholarship Coverage
Bank Negara Kijang Scholarship will cover most of the study expenses such as tuition fees, return flight tickets (only for overseas students), subsistence and related scholarship allowances.
How to Apply Bank Negara Malaysia Scholarship
Application and Assessment Process
Step 1: Submit Application
To apply for the BNM Scholarship, submit your application along with documents including; academic credentials, internship experience and previous work, and a short cover letter in the application form. In your application, show the qualities that Bank Negara Malaysia looks for.

Step 2: Pre-Assessment Centre
You will be required to answer open-ended questions in a video response and take an online psychometric assessment if your application is successful.
At this stage, we would like candidates to provide us with a copy of their final academic transcript along with other supporting documentation.
Step 3: Assessment Centre
The assessment process is concluded with some group activities and one-on-one interviews with a panel of executives from Bank Negara Malaysia.
We can talk about your motivations for joining the Bank, your talent and competencies, and how well you align with our values throughout the assessment centre.
Step 4: Outcome
About four weeks after the deadline, we will contact you to discuss the status of your application. If you are accepted then we will ask for some more information to finish our screening process.
This would typically involve a medical examination and a security screening procedure. For the April intake, the successful candidates should begin working by late April 2023, and for the September intake, by late September 2023.
