JPA Scholarship 2024 – Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam

JPA stands for (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam) is a well-known publicly funded award in Malaysia provided for students looking to continue their studies ranging from undergraduates, postgraduates, and doctorate locally or abroad.

JPA scholarship 2024 is also offered for Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD degree levels in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), economics, law, Islamic finance, and artificial intelligence.

Candidates who are enrolled in First Degree programs at Public Universities (UA), Premier Polytechnics, and Government Linked Universities (GLU) that have been approved by the Public Service Department (JPA) for Variable Loans (PBU) are warmly welcome to apply.

JPA Scholarship Requirements

Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria for the JPA Master scholarship, given below;

  • All of the degree fields are sponsored, except for the following fields
    • Medical field
    • Dental field
    • Pharmacy field
    • Education field
  • Fields that need students to take sorts of licenses such as flight licenses, and diving licenses.
  • Franchise programs of public universities / IPTS
  • Nursing, semi-medical and pre-service programs
  • Programs such as twin, dual, double, or collaborative degrees with other universities other than those that are authorized (UMP-HsKA, UMP-BJTU, or UTM-MJIIT).
  • Professional certificates such as ACCA-related Programs.
  • Tuition-free study programs part-time / distance / online / studies are available.

Requirements to apply for marriage during studies for JPA-sponsored students

If students get permission from JPA while studying they are allowed to get married. The student must meet certain requirements to be approved, including having good academic status, not being married to a non-citizen, and receiving approval from the guarantor and family.

The student sponsorship is terminated if they get married without their sponsor’s permission, and they might have to pay compensation claims.

For pre-service students the sponsorship programs are;

For the officers of the Implementation Group, Management, and Professional Group who are currently serving the Government the sponsorship programs are;

Types of JPA Postgraduate Scholarship

1# National Sponsorship Program (PPN)

The 20 top students who completed the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) get sponsorship by the National Sponsorship Program (PPN) to attend the top colleges in the world.

General Conditions

  • Must be Malaysian.
  • Must have a good health condition.
  • The mother or father of the candidate is not on the JPA blacklist or has legal action pending against them.
  • Taking the SPM exam for the first time as a private candidate or at any secondary school.
  • On 31 December of the year in which the SPM exam is taken, not yet 19 years old (20 years old for transition students).
  • For the same study level, they did not receive any sponsorship or financial aid from any other agency.

    Specific Terms

    Get at least 9A+ grades in one other subject and the following subjects; Malay, Mathematics, History, English, Additional Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Islamic Education/ Al-Quran and Al-Sunnah Education/ Usul AlDin/ Al-Sharia/ Turath Al-Quran Wa Al-Sunnah/ Islamic Sharia Education/ Moral Education/ Turath Dirasat Al-Islamiah.

    2# Special Postgraduate Program of Certificate of Malaysian Education in the Country (LSPM)

    Public Service Department (JPA) sponsored 200 excellent students who have completed the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) with a minimum score of 9A+ to pursue their education in their home country through the Special Program for Graduates of the Malaysian Certificate of Education (LSPM).

    General Conditions

    • Must be Malaysian.
    • Must have a good health condition.
    • The mother or father of the candidate is not on the JPA blacklist or has legal action pending against them.
    • Taking the SPM exam for the first time as a private candidate or at any secondary school.
    • On 31 December of the year in which the SPM exam is taken, not yet 19 years old (20 years old for transition students).
    • For the same study level, they did not receive any sponsorship or financial aid from any other agency.

    Specific Term

    • In any subject candidates must secure 9A+ SPM results regardless of the remaining subjects (if any).
    • Must start the Preparatory level studies before December 31st of the regular offer year.

    3. JPA JKPJ Scholarship (Japan, Korea, France and Germany Special Program)

    For 200 students who will graduate from the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) in the fields of engineering, science, and technology (S&T), and social science, Japan, Korea, France, and Germany are the beneficiaries of the JKPJ Special Program, a Public Service Department (JPA) sponsorship program in the form of a Variable Loan (PBU).

    General Conditions

    • Applicants must be Malaysian.
    • Must have a good health condition.
    • The mother or father of the candidate is not on the JPA blacklist or has legal action pending against them.
    • Taking the SPM exam for the first time as a private candidate or at any secondary school.
    • On 31 December of the year in which the SPM exam is taken, not yet 19 years old (20 years old for transition students).
    • For the same study level, they did not receive any sponsorship or financial aid from any other agency.

    4# JPA PIDN Scholarship (Domestic Degree Program)

    The Domestic Degree Program (PIDN) sponsorship program targets first-year students enrolled at Public Universities (UA), Premier Polytechnics, and Government-Linked Universities (GLU).

    General Conditions

    • Applicants must be Malaysian.
    • Must have a good health condition.
    • The mother or father of the candidate is not on the JPA blacklist or has legal action pending against them.
    • At the time of the application year, the age of applicants does not exceed 22 years (23 years for transfer students).

    Specific Terms

    Before the closing of the advertisement, have started the First Degree level studies.

    To be eligible for this program, meet the academic requirements below;

    • For fields other than Dentistry and Medicine:
      • Students that have commenced their education and have obtained a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of no less than 3.30 as of late.
      • Students should have the next twelve months of study left, except the most recent semester.
    • Medical and Dental Fields:
      • For the medicine and dentistry fields obtain a ‘Pass’ result for the latest semester.
      • Students should have the next twelve months of study left, except the most recent semester.

    5# B40 Scholarship (DB40)

    This sponsorship program enables low-income Malaysian graduates of the Certificate of Education (SPM), or B40 group, to pursue higher education, particularly at the Diploma level in subjects related to Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) at Polytechnic, Public Skills Institute (IKA), Universities Public (UA), and Private Higher Education Institutions (IPTS), which have been identified as having high marketability prospects in the industry.

    General Conditions

    • Applicants must be Malaysian.
    • Must be in a good health condition.
    • Parents of applicants are not on the JPA blacklist.
    • Taking the SPM exam for the first time at any secondary school such as private schools, private candidates, or special schools.
    • The B40 category’s per capita income is RM4,849.00 per month and less.

    Specific Term

    For Private Higher Education Institutes (IPTS), recognized Public Universities (UA), Polytechnics:

    • Earn honors in Malay and History at the SPM, and at least a grade C in the subjects have been taken.
    • Has been admitted to the study institution and has started their studies.

    For the Public Skills Institute (IKA) such as MARA High Skills College / Japan-Malaysia Technical Institute (JMTI) / the National Youth High Skills Institute (IKTBN) / MARA Skills Institute / High Technology Training Center (ADTEC):

    • Earn honors in Malay and History at the SPM, and at least a grade C in the subjects have been taken.
    • Has been admitted to the study institution and has started their studies.

    JPA Scholarship for Overseas

    The JPA postgraduate Scholarship in Malaysia is a full scholarship and covers tuition fees, living expenses, and other related costs of selected students. Eligible candidates must fulfill the requirements such as Malaysian citizenship and SPM holders with excellent academic results to put in an application for this scholarship.

    How to Apply for a JPA Scholarship?

    The application process for the JPA Scholarship for the degree is online through the official website.

    • A psychometric test must be passed to submit your application.
    • To prove that the submission of your application has been made, print out Slip Pengesahan Ujian Psikometrik and the Slip Pengesahan Permohonan Program Penajaan Nasional Tahun.
    • The Selected candidates should attend the Student Assessment Centre (SAC).

    How can students report themselves after finishing their studies

    • By visiting the http://myself.jpa.gov.my.

    Log in

    • Click on Register eSILA-ID.
    • Log in by using the eSILA-ID, and click on the Studies tab.
    • Then click on the Graduate Self-Report menu.
    • Fill out all the information and click Submit Application.

    Attach the following supporting documents along with the application;

    • Copy of Degree/ Senate Confirmation Letter of Completion of Study.
    • A copy of the exam transcript.
    • Evidence of employment application with the Appointing Authority (eg: Public Service Commission).

    Application to Work Abroad

    Application Requirements: (Applications can be made through the MySELF system)

    1. Based on application and not automatic
    2. Students in the final year of their first degree abroad
    3. Maximum work duration of 3 years
    4. The service period is considered
    5. Monthly installment payments during the deferment period
    6. Adjustment of loan repayment after the student returns to Malaysia
